What is your dream winter wedding location?

San Antonio, Texas! I am a bit biased because I got married in San Antonio in the winter but the trees lining the Riverwalk downtown are all covered in beautiful, twinkling lights around the holidays and the weather is absolutely perfect. The culture, food, and people in San Antonio are truly unique too, which makes it easy for guests to find plenty to do in the way of excursions or sightseeing around town before and after the wedding.

I’ve always wanted a summer wedding. But if I get married in winter, I’ll want a tropical destination. Mexico, Jamaica, the Bahamas…somewhere warm 🙂

I’m a homebody, so I’m afraid winter or summer wouldn’t have made much difference. I’d just have stuck right here in Utah!

Young brides have grown up reading Harry Potter, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and other fantasy classics. This love of castles and magic often shows up in some of my favorite wedding locations. We’ve been lucky to attend a few special events at historic homes and hotels, which feel like a magic castle with the right decor. My advise for a great holiday location is to capitalize on the festive season and find a Victorian-era locale with white lights!

If money were no object, a small romantic wedding in a foreign locale.(as long as everything was taken care of legally). So many lovely places in this world to get married…

If it is winter then somewhere near a nice warm fireplace with good food and drink. Although there is a place in Lapland where you can stay in a glass igloo which sounds lovely place for a wedding.

I would LOVE to get married in Lake Tahoe during the winter. I would want to find a luxury log cabin on the water and decorate with lots of flowers and candles, with a roaring fire in the background.

What are your favorite color combinations for winter weddings?

Jewel tones (deep purple, red, or emerald green) are so beautiful any time of year but especially in winter months. I also think that black or silver accents look incredibly elegant for winter weddings.

I love Blue & White and Red & White for winter weddings! A little silver thrown in too 🙂

Amanda from ArtisanMaskers

Because of the potential for a lovely white backdrop, I agree that deep or vivid colors can look especially beautiful in the wintertime. I personally would veer for the “natural” palette–greens, browns, deep oranges, etc.–because those are the “deep” colors I love best! I think it would also be GORGEOUS to see a pale/pastel color scheme against the snow, though.

Keri from DelaneyPhotoJewelry

Well I first imagined that I would pick beautiful Holiday colors, like red, white and silver. My initial thought was that it wouldn’t look right to have a pastel colored wedding in Winter. But then I realized that a steely lavender and white, would be stunning. Knowing myself, I would add a hint of deep purple into that combination. So now my new answer is a Lavender.

Crimson red roses, ebony black suits, and Snow White! A classic combination which can be personalized with vintage styles of dress and suits from the 1920’s and 1930’s.

These classic colors and styles can be worn again at most formal occasions. Choose a bridesmaid dress in a deep crimson velvet, for example. They will love you even more for it!

I love the deep burgundy shades and the forest green with silver accents for the cold climates.

I would probably look towards the deeper and richer colours like burgundy or blue with hints of cream. Sort of the deep colours that the victorian fashions are famous for.

Ella from EllaWinston

I would opt for the deep purples and reds. I would love a blackberry purple with a red bordeaux and then add gold as an accent color.

How many bridesmaids are too much?

iusa_75x75.6669306

Jennifer from ClayBouquetShop

Hm…depends on the size of the wedding. 50 guests…2-3 max, I guess. 100 guests…up to 4? 200+ … go for 4-6! : ) Not sure why, but I guess it makes sense to me to keep it so <10% of your guests are in the wedding party. : )

hmm that’s hard. As a stationery designer anything over 6 b/c it wont fit on the programs and makes it challenging for me 🙂 haha. But really it’s the brides day, so I say let her do what she wants!!!!

If they are sisters, there is no limit. Friends, I’d say 3 is plenty.

Ella from EllaWinston

I agree with Dalynda, if they are sisters (or even cousins) there is no limit. I would suggest Brides consider asking friends who they are the closest too. I can’t imagine looking a wedding photo and seeing someone you just really don’t care for anymore. It’s your day and you can ask anyone you want. There may be hurt feelings but you can’t please everyone! I went with a small wedding party of two. I loved it because it was less people to organize and manage 🙂

I bought each of my bridesmaids their favorite perfume. It was about $100 per person, but they used it everyday for a long time & remembered our special moments together.

Ideas for the Fall Bride

I love the Fall. Of course I love the colors, and the endless social gatherings, but the food is the real reason that I look forward to this time of year. Homemade apple crisp, eggnog lattes, Irish cream, and pumpkin everything. It’s when I really get excited about baking. I learned to cook from some amazing women. And everything was made from scratch. So recently, when my mother came to a complete standstill over the fact that I didn’t have the Pumpkin Spice Mix that she needed for her recipe, I was floored. She could not figure out how to make her dessert without my help, and I loved every minute of it. For those of you who rely on the Pumpkin Spice Mix as my mother now does, here is the breakdown. And if you ever find yourself in my mother’s predicament, I hope your daughter is more understanding than I was.

Pumpkin Spice

Pumpkin Spice Mix:

•             4 tablespoons ground cinnamon

•             4 teaspoons ground nutmeg

•             4 teaspoons ground ginger

•             3 teaspoons ground allspice

•             1/4 teaspoon cardamom seeds (optional)

For all of you brides who happen to be have Pumpkin Spice Mix on hand, here are some really cute, and very creative ways you can incorporate it into your wedding.pumpkin spice cappuccino

I think these are fabulous favors.  You can place these instructions on the back of the tag: Add some spice to your life! Stir 2 tbs of cappuccino mix into 1 cup hot water/milk and enjoy!

pumpkin-pie-spice-2

You could personalize these bags by adding a custom tag or label with your wedding information (names and wedding date).

MiniPumpkinPies

Okay, this one is just because I’m hungry. But these are so cute, bite size, no mess, and very Fall’ish.

Pumpkin Spice Cupcake

Wouldn’t these be beautiful sitting in a tiered cupcake holder on your dessert table.

What? You’re drooling? Do you need a reason better than taste approval for your big day? I think not….

Here is a 5 star recipe for the most amazing Pumpkin Spice Cake: http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/pumpkin-spice-cake. I recommend a cinnamon glaze to top it off.

And just a little more inspiration…….
