We ask the WedEclectic team a question, and post their answers each week…providing some advice, inspiration and insight into the person behind our shops. We hope you enjoy them!
Please reply with your own answer! : )
Did you create anything for your wedding, what was your favorite DIY project? Your least favorite?
Since my husband wanted a 40k wedding on a 10k budget (which we went a bit over on…), I created everything I could.
Bouquets/bouts (my shop avatar is my clay bouquet)
Centerpieces/table arrangements (silk flowers & leaves and candles)
Invitations, place cards and table numbers (from Lotka paper – renewable resource and fair trade!)
Purchasing and setting up the chair covers and bows ourselves
Upcycled my veil
Upcycled my tiara
My Favorite labor of love? My clay flowers…still making them for other brides!
My least favorite? The chair covers/bows. Looked much nicer than without them, but what a pain! The drycleaner made my husband and the groomsmen 3 hours late for the rehearsal since they weren’t ready in time, and I found out the hard way that pressing them myself afterwards was nearly impossible. Rent them…it would be much easier! : )
I only had a small DIY projects on my wedding which was my bouquet, hair accessories, buttonhole flowers for the immediate family and the table centrepieces.
All of which I enjoyed a lot. I wanted to make the wedding favours as well but my mother didn’t think it was appropriate so I didn’t. In the end it was for the best as I sort of ran out to time for some reason.
I did a few DIY projects for our wedding. I created the cupcake stands from platters and various glass trays and candle holders from different Goodwill stores. It came out really beautiful. Each piece was a little different, some short some really tall. I also created all of the place cards for the table from a set that I bought at Michael’s (love that store!) And I had my Aunt do all of my flowers from the bouquets to our table flowers. That saved us a TON of money!
